Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS)

Description: Used for ages 18+ years. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is a 10-item screener for identifying patients at risk for “perinatal” depression (symptoms that are common in women with depression and anxiety during pregnancy and in the year following the birth of a child).

This measure meets the requirement for MIPS Quality Metric ID #134 Depression Screen.

Scoring: Higher score = higher depression severity
0-9, depression not likely
10-12, possible depression
13+, high possibility of depression
